Elephant Butte Balloon Regatta

August 27-28, 2016 Only event of its kind! Balloon ascension, splash & dash, and the balloon-boat relay race. Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Held in conjunction with the “Elephant Days” City of Elephant Butte Celebration. Balloon glow for Elephant Days on Saturday night, candlestick glow if weather is bad. Geronimo Trail National Scenic Byway

Rio Grande Valley CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)

The Rio Grande Valley CASA mission is to support effective volunteer advocacy for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in the 7th Judicial District court. Our vision is to ensure that every child has a safe, loving, and permanent home.

Rio Vaqueros, Inc.

Rio Vaqueros, Inc. is a shooting club affiliated with the NRA, SASS and ICORE national shooting associations. We hold several shooting events per month. The First Sunday-Long Range Rifle Shoot. Start time 8am Second Saturday – Fun Shoot- pistol only Start time 9am Third Sunday-Cowboy Shoot (SASS) pistols, rifle and shotgun. Start time 9am. Shoot times are according to Daylight Savings Time. During Standard time-the shoots are moved one hour later. Monthly meetings are currently held at Cedar Cove RV Park club house the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6pm.

Dues are $20 a year with a $5 entry fee for the each match. Any qualified shooter (must not be a felon) may shoot. Youth (18 and under) shoot for free. We have several extra events during the year including Night Shoots, ICORE Shoots, Bowling Pin Shoots and Pocket Pistol Shoots. Sierra County Cancer Assistance (SCCA)

SCCA provides free transportation for Sierra County residents to Las Cruces and Albuquerque for cancer treatments. We are an Non-Profit organization and rely on donations and fundraisers.

Our Mission

The mission of SCCA is to provide, at no cost to the cancer survivor, transportation to and from doctor appointments, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. All of our drivers are volunteers.

We are a 50l (c) 3 non-profit organization. Proceeds from our fundraising events, along with private donations, will give us the funds needed to continue these services for years to come. All of the funds raised remain within Sierra County. We provide service to Arrey, Caballo, Chloride, Cuchillo, Cutter, Elephant Butte, Engle, Hillsboro, Truth or Consequences and Winston.

The Bountiful Alliance

The Bountiful Alliance is a local non-profit group dedicated to creating community sustainability through projects such as the Sierra County Farmers’ Market, Friends of the Pool, Bountiful Babies, 4th Street Community Garden and more.

We are looking for volunteers with a passion for teaching, gardening, grant writing, and leading a healthy life. Actually any talent you have will find a welcome here at the The Bountiful Alliance. Our monthly Board meetings, open to all interested parties are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3:00 pm. We will be meeting at 318 N. Broadway & Membership is only $10.00 per year. Serving the West Texas and Southern New Mexico Area. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed, all-volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard. The Auxiliary was created by an Act of Congress in 1939, and has grown to over 32,000 members who daily support the Coast Guard in all its non-military, and non-law-enforcement missions. We have members and units in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.
